Our products
Fluorchem offers a line of acrylate, siloxane, and phenolic ether products for use within cosmetics production. Our products include Acrylates, such as Ethyl acrylate and Ethyl methacrylate which are commonly used to formulate cosmetic grade adhesives in artificial nails and eyelashes. In addition to Acrylates, we produce silicone polymers being polydimethylsiloxane (dimethicone) and phenolic ethers (phenoxyethanol). These are commonly used in a wide variety of cosmetic products.
Fluorchem Corporation began the production of acrylates, dimethicone, and phenoxyethanol in 2021 and 2022 resulting from a research programme operated under Fluorchem Advanced Materials for use as possible substitutes to fluorochemicals in certain applications. Volume of these chemicals made by production units not being utilised within the research programme was sold commercially to the health and personal care and sexual wellness industries.
Polydimethylsiloxane (dimethicone) & Phenoxyethanol
Dimethicone is a type of silicone polymer consiting of repeating dimethylsiloxy groups. At Fluorchem Corp, dimethicone production process units were finished utilising hydrogen chloride where the final terminated polymer is capped by reaction with trimethylsilyl chloride producing the type of dimethicone fit for consumer applications in cosmetics rather than as an adhesive.
Phenoxyethanol is a phenolic ether. It is produced at Fluorchem Corp. through a base-catalysed nucleophilic substitution reaction involving phenol. The final product is of high purity and suitable for use in cosmetic products for skin contact.
Polydimethylsiloxane (Dimethicone) is widely used in the cosmetics and personal care industry for its moisturizing, lubricating, and defoaming properties.
Common applications include:
-Skin care products such as moisturizing and tanning lotions
-Hair care products like shampoos and conditioners
-Personal care items including condoms and lubricants
Phenoxyethanol, also known as ethylene glycol monophenyl ether, is a phenolic ether widely used in the cosmetics industry as a preservative and formulation stabilizer.
Common applications include:
-Skin care products such as moisturizing and tanning lotions
-Personal care items like soaps and conditioners
-Color cosmetics including concealers and blushes
Ethyl acrylate & Ethyl methacrylate
Ethyl acrylate and Ethyl methacrylate are both acrylate esters produced by Fluorchem Advanced Materials as derivations from acrylic acid in acid catalysed esterification. They are both heavily used in the present day cosmetics industry in the production of artificial eyelashes, artificial nails and other cosmetic adhesive applications.
Ethyl Acrylate is an acrylic acid ester used in cosmetic formulations as an effective film-forming agent. It readily polymerizes to create a flexible, adherent layer that enhances wear and durability.
Common cosmetic applications include:
-Nail coatings and enhancement products
-Eyelash formulations requiring flexible film formation
Ethyl Methacrylate is an acrylate ester widely utilized in cosmetic formulations, particularly for artificial nail systems. It is valued for its strong adhesion, clarity, and ability to create a smooth, high-gloss finish, resulting in durable, long-wearing enhancements.
Common cosmetic applications include:
-Artificial nail coatings and extensions
-Adhesive systems for eyelash enhancements
