What is Trichlor?
Trichlor, known as Trichloroisocyanuric Acid is a chlorinated derivative of cyanuric acid serving as a powerful disinfectant and deodorant. It is primary used in pools and spas to kill waterborne bacteria but may also be used as a surface disinfectant in commercial and industrial environments.
Trichlor is not only a disinfectant, but an algicide, bactericide and bleaching agent. It may be used for a wide range of applications owing to its powerful antibacterial and deodorizing properties.
Fluorchem Corporation highly recommends the use of Trichlor in domestic, commercial and industrial environments as a simple, effective disinfectant and cleaning agent.
Trichlor VS Chlorine Bleach
Both Trichlor and Chlorine Bleaches are powerful disinfectants that have a wide range of uses. Generally, most Chlorine bleaches such as Fluorchem Chlorine Bleach are better suited for use in common household applications such as home and laundry due to its lower strength than Trichlor. Chlorine bleach relies on a compound known as Sodium Hypochlorite for its cleaning and disinfecting properties. The strength of the bleach is dependant on the hypochlorite concentration. Most common household bleaches contain a hypochlorite concentration between 3-7%. Fluorchem Chlorine Bleach contains a 7% Hypochlorite concentration.
Trichlor is a significantly more aggressive chlorinating solution, relying on the trichloroisocyanuric compound for its properties, Fluorchem Trichlor solution is comprised of 10% trichloroisocyanuric acid resulting in a greater available chlorine content, better suited for commercial and industrial use.
Fluorchem Trichlor is available online on retailers including Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Alibaba. All containers are 4.0 litres in volume and are shrink wrapped in sealed PVC plastic to prevent against leaks during shipping.
Using and Storing Trichlor Safely
Just like any other cleaning chemical, Trichlor should be stored out of reach of children and pets with the cap tightly closed. Trichlor must be kept away from acid based products like household vinegar as if the two were to mix, an unwanted reaction could occur producing toxic gases. It is important to choose a cool, dark and dry place to store Trichlor as UV will degrade total available chlorine concentration. It is important to wear eye protection and gloves when using Trichlor, skin contact should be avoided. Always read and follow the label.
